Hackensack is a double bill night dedicated to the fresh and the new jazz and occurs on the
first Thursday of every month during the students' term times
1st set - Tuk Tuk
Led by saxophonist Joe Northwood, Tuk Tuk are a trio of creative musicians that perform memorable melodic lines infused with highly percussive group improvisation. They will be showcasing new tunes from their soon to be released album, 'Taking Flight'.
The writing has an undeniably contemporary feel yet with a firm foot in the past, citing a range of influences, from legends like John Coltrane and Joe Henderson, to modern the greats of Mark Guiliana, Avashai Cohen and Ben Wendel.

2nd set - Bruno Heinen trio
Described by London Jazz as "a cool-headed and resourceful improviser with a beguiling touch" Bruno's erudition, eclectic studies and a jazz sensibility make him the kind of newcomer who repositions the goalposts.
Recently Bruno played a solo gig in Cardiff as part of the Mr. Vertigo tour and this time he is back with a trio that will be playing originals by each member of the group alongside choice arrangements.

Medium Price - £7 - for the awesome audient, supporting the Hackensack without quite the glamour and philanthropy associated with the big price
Little Price - £5 - for the music lover who's thinking "that's all well and good but I’m a student who’s on a budget here and I come to bloody everything anyway so stop pestering me for cash"
