Returning for their third visit to the club are Bella Collins and Gareth Evans. This duo features the richly mature and easy flowing vocals of Bella supported by the slick improvised guitar work of Gareth. With influences from the great jazz era artists such as Joe Pass, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, the duo have also taken inspiration from more contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse and Prince.
Poet John Freeman will be providing spoken word support at the club for the first time.
He recently received the Roland Mathias Prize for Poetry at the Wales Book of the Year Awards for his tenth collection, What Possessed Me (Worple Press). Just two weeks ago, John won first prize in the 2018 Bridport Poetry competition.
Also making their debut at the club this month, are the electrifying Goat Roper Rodeo Band.
From Rhuddlan in Flintshire, their recipe of riveting performance and aching harmony vocals has become a real phenomenon - as described by a reviewer of one of their gigs last year, they produce "compelling country-grounded music played acoustically with more electricity naturally in it than many bands could drain plugged into the mains".
On stage The Goat Roper Rodeo Band bring to country blues the life-force and vitality that The Pogues in their prime brought to Irish traditional music. You'll seldom see a band as completely absorbed in what they are doing.
